Comparison is one of the biggest sources of pressure in kids’ football
Not because parents want more.
But because it’s hard not to notice what other children are doing.
Who’s moved up?
Who’s got into a pro academy?
Who’s the best player?
The thing is, children don’t develop on the same timeline.
Comparing one child’s progress to another often adds pressure doesn’t really do a parent (or their child) any good.
What matters far more is whether your child is learning, enjoying it and growing in confidence at their own pace.
Their journey doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
And that’s OK.
The longer they stay in football the more chance they have of reaching their full potential.
