Foot-Tech Academy Turns 9!!
Today we are 9 so here are 9 things we’ve learnt since we started Foot-Tech:
Kids don’t melt in the rain…no matter what some people would have you believe given their reaction to bad weather
Fun is developing, developing is fun – kids enjoy it more when they are improving
Winning is very low down the list of why kids want to play sport (read that twice)
The word ‘elite’ should be banned when grouping youth footballers in any place other than academy level
The best coaches we’ve had/have are also the best people
Those who know the most about football are often the ones who are quieter on the sidelines
There’s never been more free information available about coaching football to kids and yet we still see people who have kids running around the pitch to ‘warm up’, have young players doing press-ups and wasting god-knows how much time on other things that simply aren’t football-related (and really boring)
Experience is not the same as knowledge – a coach can have 20 years ‘experience’ but if they don’t have the right knowledge it doesn’t really matter. Good coaches develop the right knowledge and then continually look to improve that knowledge
Cones can’t tackle so there’s no point getting a child to dribble around them (no matter how good it might look for Instagram)
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the last 9 years whether as a parent, player, coach or venue provider.
We appreciate all the support and look forward to many more years
