Foot-Tech Testing New Size Footballs For Kids Training

New balls please…

We’ll be testing some new footballs over the next few weeks.

It’s long been believed that playing with smaller balls (age specific) was better for children.

That’s why at Foot-Tech you’ll see different sized balls for our different age-groups.

Makes a lot of sense.

But some experts are suggesting that it isn’t the size of the ball but actually the weight of the ball that needs to be adjusted.

There’s a growing call for children in primary school to play with bigger footballs as it is more representative and gets them used to what they will eventually be playing with.

The difference needs to be the weight and adjusting the weight should mean they are able to dribble, pass and shoot better than they would be with a smaller ball or with a typical size 5.

So far we’ve been impressed.

Kids seem a bit more confident with trying a shot or pass (might be because they have a bigger target to now kick 🤷‍♂️) and it hasn’t hindered them with their dribbling (which is what we feared it would do).

We always aim to be on top of any new developments that improve our members so we’ll see how it goes and look to introduce these sorts of footballs if they are the best option for younger players 👍

Like how we think about kids' football?
