FT FC at Leeds United Tournament

Yesterday we took a group of our players to a tournament hosted by Leeds United
Now, before our emails blow up (
), we have not started a team
Our plan this season is to take some of our different age groups off to play in ad-hoc tournaments/matches to help their development.
We were invited to enter a team for this one so thought it was the perfect chance to try it out.
We all had such a good day
We played 3 games in total – won one, lost one and drew one.
Our victory was a MAHOOOSIVE 6-0 win
Unfortunately our 4th game was abandoned due to a nasty head injury for a player on the opposing team (hope you’re ok little man and congrats to your team for winning the tournament).
We are so proud of these lads.
We played against established, organised teams who had played together for at least 1-2 seasons.
Our boys…
Some had never met each other
Some don’t play for teams
Some had never even played a ‘proper’ match before
Nearly all of them don’t even train together at Foot-Tech
And yet they more than held their own and, more importantly, had a really enjoyable experience
What was most pleasing for us is looking at them individually and seeing how all of them were confident on the ball, supported each other when off the pitch and certainly didn’t mind a tackle or two
I (Luke) was most happy about that last one
And the absolute delight whenever they scored made our day
They learned a lot and so did we.
Our approach is/will be very different to the usual but there is a reason for that
A few weeks training/playing together and we’d have a serious squad on our hands with this group

Well done, boys. Looking forward to the next one
FT FC…it’s very tempting!
