How to coach back foot receiving

This is an activity we’ll be using this month at Foot-Tech which aims to help players receive the ball on the back foot.

This is massive for children to learn at a young age.

The next time you watch a game on TV count how many times a player takes the ball on the back-foot (the foot furthest away from the passer).

The best players are those that can take the ball on the half-turn and move the ball forwards – Phil Foden is a player to watch on this.

This is a fun activity for coaches to use and it can easily be adapted for abilities and ages.

Like how we think about kids' football?

It's even better in person. Sessions across North & East Leeds for ages 2–14. The first one's a free taster.
