Ilkley U7’ Tournament – Team Foot-Tech

Big thanks to Ilkley Town for having us over on Saturday for some friendly matches

We took a team of u7’s made up of players from our mid-week sessions, who did us proud

We played against 4 teams from across West Yorkshire with a mix of 3v3 & 5v5.

Some great stuff to watch and amazing to think some of our lads had never even met each other before today!

Want to say how refreshing it was to see grassroots coaches who actually want to do things the right way.

Small-sided games

Nobody hell-bent on winning/worrying about the score

Letting accidental fouls go unpunished so the game isn’t continuously stopping

No screaming instructions from the sidelines the entire time

Putting the players first – no ego’s

And, most importantly, just letting the kids play without grown-ups taking over and spoiling their fun!

Massive for development and we’re glad to meet other coaches who share our beliefs.
