Kids Don‘t Need To Be Taught A ‘Playing Style‘

Young kids don‘t need to be taught a ‘playing style‘

That they must ‘play through the thirds‘

Or they must only play short passes…

They need to be guided and encouraged to make the best decision based on what is going on when they have the ball…

That might be a long pass to their striker who is in loads of space

It might be they need to try dribble past a defender

Or maybe the short pass is the best option…

But it is not about playing a certain way for the sake of playing a certain way

Children need to be taught the overall goal in a football match…

To score at least 1 more than the other team…

There‘s nothing wrong with wanting to play attractive football But we shouldn‘t enforce a style of play at the expense of a child being free to choose a better option that might help their team score 1 more than the opponent ⚽️
