Simple Games Based Ideas For Grassroots Coaches

We speak to so many grassroots managers who are confused with what drills to do.

They’ve been thrown into managing a junior team without much previous experience.

And they’re often short on time to even look into things in a lot of detail.

Our advice is to keep it simple.

Stay close to the game and don’t over-complicate it.

If you’re struggling, there’s nothing wrong with playing matches for a full session.

There are loads of things you can do to mix it up:

– Small-sided
– Bigger match
– 1 touch/2 touch (may not be great for decision-making but can provide a fun challenge)
– Change the pitch sizes
– Under-loads & overloads (4v1, 4v2 etc)

You might worry people think it’s a lazy approach but you’re likely helping your players a lot more than you think.

Here to help with any ideas if any coaches out there need it ⚽️
