Such a big deal is made of the scoreline in kids football.

More-so from the grown-ups than the players, which then feeds into children believing the world has ended if they lose a game.

Of course, there comes a time when the scoreline does matter.

But at the younger end, how much more enjoyable would it be for them if they focused more on themselves.

Did THEY do better than last week?

What could THEY have done differently?

What will THEY try to do next week?

Don’t worry about how much the team won or lost by or what their teammates did wrong.

Focus on competing against themselves from the last game.

Focus on improving their individual game.

The team could win 10-0 but if your child hasn’t played well/learnt anything is that really success?

Equally, they could lose 10-0 but your child played amazingly well and learnt loads, should they see that as a failure?

A good one to think about 🤔
