Top Tip Tuesday – Struggling to get your child to join in at a new class/activity?

One of the best tips we have for this is to simply bring them down to a session and let them watch.

It can be daunting going somewhere new but if your child is able to see and feel the environment for a few weeks they become a lot more comfortable with it.

We’ve seen this countless times at our football classes. There can be upwards of 90 children plus coaches and parents in any given hour.

For a child (particularly our 3-4 year olds) it can be pretty scary! But if you let them stay at the side, maybe have a kick around with you for a while and just see it all then you’ll soon find they are happy to give it a try in no time.

A little lad we know well did exactly this recently and he is now absolutely flying 💪

Whether it is football, rugby or gymnastics – if your child has struggled at their taster session or they are particularly shy, speak to the coaches about coming down to watch for a few sessions. It can be powerful for them to see other children their age smiling and enjoying themselves.

It makes them feel at ease and they’ll soon think they are missing out by not joining in.

Give it a go 👍
