Top Tip Tuesday – Practise Volleys

One of the best things a young player can practise…volleys 🚀

Pound for pound they provide a lot of development in a variety of areas:

Ball striking

Coordination

Balance

Timing

For grassroots, think about how many times you see the ball bouncing around in a game.

A player that can hit a bouncing ball on target will give themselves a lot of scoring opportunities and they’ll be able to catch keepers off-guard.

A volley doesn’t have to be a shot.

It could also be a pass, so practising them gives players more to their game.

Get out and practise full volleys, half volleys, side volleys etc etc.

Parents can throw the ball or a player can do it themselves.

We like to let to try it with a few bounces to add some more variability.

Do it against a wall if you don’t have a goal. Just get used to the movement.

Nail volleys and shooting on the floor also becomes a lot easier.

Let’s be fair volleys are ace – is there anything much better than seeing a one rocket in the top corner 🔥

**George (second player) did this on Saturday during his 121 then went on to score a volley on Sunday for his team 🙌**
