Truth is, 121 football training IS NOT the best thing for most kids

Some see it as the magic wand that will make a child amazing at football.

The best thing for most kids?

The right group session in the right environment with the right ability level (have you heard us say that before 🤣)

This certainly applies to beginner players (of any age) and players under 7.

Why?

Because a group session has other players.

It is closer to the game of football.

121’s can only help with certain things and will never be able to develop game-realistic techniques and awareness.

The issue with making a player unbelievable at dribbling around cones in a 121 is that cones can’t tackle.

The issue with learning how to smash the ball in the top corner against a mannequin is the mannequin can’t move to save it.

You get the picture.

It’s like learning to drive without ever going on a road with other cars.

121’s can have a place but, in our experience, the players who get the most from them are those who already train 2-3 times per week in a group.

This may sound weird coming from a business who offer 121 training but we turn so many away and offer different advice because most parents are wasting their money.

As Pep has said – in the younger ages they just need to play, play, play ⚽️

And that applies to kids who are late to football.

If you are a parent who has considered 121 coaching and want to know if it is right for your child just drop us a message.

We’ll provide the best advice based on our child’s needs.

We’re also in the middle of planning something that we feel will help youth players develop the things parents ask for most in 121’s BUT with all the benefits of a group session.

More details coming soon…
